Strange Evolution:
The Weird Future of Life on Earth

What will animals look like in the future? Given how quickly our climate is changing, it is likely that many animals will need to evolve to survive. In 1980, Dougal Dixon wrote a book which imagined what life might be like thousands of years from now envisaging tails that can be used as parachutes, flower faced birds and flying monkeys.

Considering this and the work of other artists interested in speculative evolution, students will re-imagine an animal they think may need to adapt to our changing climate. They will consider where the creature will live, how it will need to adapt and why. Using this initial design students will make a clay model of the character and create a 10-20 second claymation video showing the animal in its suspected habitat.
